The restoration of this modern Firebird started with a nice California car but was not number matching. D&P performed a complete body-off the frame restoration. The owner wanted a modern powertrain with lots of horsepower. D&P selected a GM Performance Parts LS9 (ZR1 Corvette) engine with 638 H.P. With a few minor tweaks D&P was able to crank the LS9 up to 710 horsepower for a little more “fun factor.” The LS9 engine is supercharged and intercooled and is one of the most technologically advanced engines from GM. GM’s 4L85 4 Speed automatic transmission was installed to handle the transfer of power. The front suspension was upgraded with Global West Suspension components along with quick ratio power steering. A 12 Bolt differential with 4:10 gear and positraction was also installed to handle the power and sub frame connectors were installed. Needless to say this car is very fast. Stopping power comes from 4 wheel disc brakes. Comfort features include vintage air conditioning, tilt steering, heated seats, power top, custom factory style leather interior, Haartz black canvas top, custom wheels, satellite stereo and much more. This cool Firebird is a blast to drive and the owner drives the car on a regular basis.
