What do you get when you mix a 1970 Chevelle SS Convertible and a Chevrolet Performance LS9 Crate Engine? The answer is a scary fast muscle car that blends the best of the old with the best of the new. This subtle restomod may look stock from the outside but it is far from stock under the hood.

D&P Classic Chevy recently completed construction of this beautiful Chevelle for a local collector. As a non-number matching car the owner asked D&P to do their thing and provide some modern, efficient horsepower to the vintage muscle car. D&P installed a new Chevrolet Performance LS9 fuel injected, supercharged, inter-cooled crate engine. With the hood down the Chevelle looks like a run of the mill restored SS. Under the hood though the impressive LS9 looks comfortable and right at home in the engine bay. The effort was to make the engine compartment look as if GM had built it that way.

Obviously there are a lot of modern components under the hood that are required to support the ZR1 Corvette engine. The might Chevelle not only has in excess of 638 horsepower but it also has all the other creature comforts we all like in our modern vehicles. The air conditioning system was updated but retained. The Chevelle has power disc brakes, updated steering with a tilt column, factory appearing leather interior, satellite stereo, 12 Bolt with posi-traction and 3:73 gears, power windows, and much more.
