The 1950’s was a great era in American History. If you’re a gear head like the folks at D&P Classic Chevy then you know that some of the best looking cars ever built came from the 50’s. Obviously at D&P we’re a little partial as we love Tri Five Chevys and specialize in restoring and modernizing them. As most of you know we have built a lot of them. The beauty you are looking at here is a D&P built 1956 Belair Convertible that received a complete body-off the frame restoration for long time D&P customer Jack D. The 56 had been in storage for decades and was in decent overall shape, but needed a complete restoration.  The build plan for Jack’s 56 included modernization that provided for safe, dependable upgrades to allow for driving on today’s highways. For power D&P installed a GM Performance ZZ4 crate engine with the hot cam. The transmission selected was a 700R4 automatic with overdrive. Out back a GM 8.5 10 bolt was built and installed to handle the power from the ZZ4. Other upgrades include power steering with an Ididit Tilt column, power front disc brakes, power windows, rally wheels, and a truck load of restoration parts from Danchuk Manufacturing.  Jack’s 56 is a blast to drive and gets the old thumbs up everywhere you go.
